Creative Careers Service
If you’re looking for work in the creative sector or you're an established creative who’s lost income due to COVID-19, you may be able to develop and extend your skills with the Creative Careers Service.
The Creative Careers Service is a Government initiative to help creatives gain and retain work in the creative sector.
We’ve partnered with Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage to pilot the service, which aims to develop the complementary skills, knowledge and networks needed to grow opportunities and turn talent into a viable career.
The pilot is available through selected providers to people living in the Auckland, Waikato and Nelson regions.
Who it’s for
To be able to get the Creative Careers Service, you must be
- aged 18-64, and
- living in the Auckland, Waikato or Nelson regions
and:
- a Work and Income client with a creative qualification or relevant experience in the creative sector; or
- a recent graduate from creative tertiary education; or
- an established creative who has been affected by COVID-19.
You do not have to be getting a benefit to be involved.
What you can get
The service is delivered through selected creative sector providers in the pilot regions.
It’s a free service, and it’s tailored to support you towards your individual goals and career aspirations. You’ll have the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will help you grow and thrive in the arts and creative sector, including:
- business management
- contract negotiation
- marketing and networking
- applying for funding
- employment opportunities.
How to get involved
If you’re in one of the pilot regions and are currently getting a benefit, you can contact us to talk about getting involved or you can contact the service providers directly. You do not have to be getting a benefit to be involved.
