Jobs and Skills Hubs

Jobs and Skills Hubs work with large construction and infrastructure projects, helping connect employers to the right people, with the right skills, at the right time.

As a no-cost recruitment and training facilitation service, the hubs support construction and infrastructure sectors by working closely with government agencies, employers, and industry partners to improve employment and skills outcomes for communities.

Based within local communities, the Hubs help people take their first step into work, access industry-relevant training, change careers, and secure sustainable employment close to where they live.

For employers

We help find skilled workers for projects, extend the hiring pool of potential candidates, help managers upskill current staff; enable employers to better plan for current and future construction-related needs.

It is a one-stop shop for employers. So, they can reach out to us to try and find an individual that they need or they're looking for someone who they would love
to upskill. We can provide the training, we can provide the support, we can connect them with MSD services.
Training is really important for ensuring that our candidates have the right skill set that they need to go into the jobs that they're looking for.
We do all the basic screening and onboarding um and cut out everything that is more stressful for employers.
Some of our um newer, best experienced staff that have come through the jobs and skills hub have turned up um very work ready and with realistic
expectations of what the work is. When they can come to you sort of pre-qualified or even halfway there, your reservations about them have
already been taken care of by the job skills hub which yeah is invaluable. We hand give them basically all nice and ready, work ready, licenses, tickets, whatever they need.
What would you tell other employers about the jobs and skills hub?
I'd tell them if they don't know about it, they should get on to it soon. Um, but we'll be okay if they don't because it'll take all the good candidates.

Training

Jobs and Skills Hubs support both employers and job seekers with targeted, practical training that bridges skills gaps and strengthens workforce readiness. This includes coordinating licences, tickets, Site Safe, inductions, and other industry requirements, as well as connecting people to work readiness and sector-specific training.

Working closely with employers, the Hubs tailor training to meet project needs and ensure candidates are prepared for available roles, helping businesses build capability and job seekers move into sustainable employment.

We work with employers to identify skill gaps so that we can tailor our training needs for the candidate to make sure that they're suitable.
I learned more than what I thought I was going to learn. Get like variation of what you can do and what you can learn, where you can grow and like kind of find like where you want to be.
We have a training room which is really awesome. It's a big large room that we can host trainings or classroom like settings in.
I've come in here to participate in a leadership training program, a one-day program to uh listen new techniques um for leadership on site.
Something that we utilize often is the Sight Safe Foundation passport on a VR headset. It ensures that our employers have quality candidates coming on site.
They're safe and they're making sure that they're capable of doing all the stuff that they're hired to do. I reached out to one of the gateway
teachers and said that I was looking for something different. She led me towards the cadet. We got lots of tickets. I got my rigging and slinging dogman tickets,
my wheels, striker rollers, working at heights. I love being on those machines.
It's so fun to drive the digger and have like good experience on it.
So, it doesn't matter what their experiences or what skills that they have. They should be able to walk through our doors interested in infrastructure or civil. We can help
them get them the training that they need.
