One-off or lump sum payments
Some one-off or lump sum payments don't count as income if you're getting a payment from us. Find out what kind of payments you need to tell us about and how they might affect your payments.
Whether you need to tell us
If you get Accommodation Supplement or Temporary Additional Support, you need to tell us about any one-off or lump sum payments.
If you're getting a benefit (but not Accommodation Supplement or Temporary Additional Support), you may need to tell us about your one-off or lump sum payments. This depends on whether you get any income from it and what it's for - you can check this in the list below.
Types of one-off or lump sum payments
Find the type of one-off or lump sum you were paid to check if this will affect your payments from us:

Getting income from one-off or lump sum payments
If you're getting income from your one-off or lump sum payment, e.g. interest or dividends, you need to tell us. This income may affect your payments from us.
You can tell us about this income using MyMSD:
If you can't use MyMSD you can call us or come into one of our service centres.
Income from severe weather event payments
If you got a one-off or lump sum payment due to a severe weather event, is it not counted as income for 12 months from the day it was paid to you. However you still need to let us know about this income. Find out what happens to this income and how to tell us about it here:
