COVID-19 Leave Payment
The COVID-19 Leave Payment was to help businesses keep paying their staff who could not work because they were in self-isolation. It was available from 17 March 2020 to 27 March 2020.
The information on this page is a summary of the key details about the COVID-19 Leave Payment. Detailed information can be found in the declaration at the bottom of this page.
Who could get it
This payment was available to businesses to keep paying staff who were self-isolating and unable to work. The staff must have been self-isolating (either in line with public health guidance or because they were advised to) because either:
- they had COVID-19
- they were the parent or caregiver of a dependant who had COVID-19, or
- they:
- were self-isolating in accordance with public health guidance,
- had registered with Healthline, and
- were not a person who was self-isolating because they left NZ after the travel restrictions came into effect (after 15 March 2020).
Employees did not have to use their paid leave entitlements.
Payment amount
The payment was paid as a lump-sum of:
- $585.80 for each full-time employee (20 hours a week or more)
- $350 for each part-time employee (less than 20 hours a week).
Declaration
The declaration contains the full eligibility criteria, obligations and repayment responsibilities for the COVID-19 Leave Payment.
