Reviews of circumstances and annual income
Each year we need to make sure you're getting everything you're entitled to and that we're paying you the right amount.
Review of circumstances
We need to get up-to-date information from you about your circumstances so we can check you're receiving the right payment.
You may be sent a Confirming your Circumstances form if you're receiving:
- Supported Living Payment
- Emergency Maintenance Allowance
- Emergency Benefit
- NZ Super or Veteran's Pension.
This is a complete review of your entitlements. We need to make sure you're still entitled to the payments you're receiving from us. This includes supplementary assistance and checks for any changes in your circumstances.
Review of annual income
Each year we need to look at how much you've earned and compare this with the payments we made to you for the same period to make sure we've paid you the right amount.
You may be sent a Review of Income letter if you're receiving:
- Sole Parent Support
- Supported Living Payment
- Emergency Maintenance Allowance
- Emergency Benefit (only if you aren't able to claim Sole Parent Support or Supported Living Payment in some circumstances)
- Jobseeker Support (if you're a sole parent, or transferred to Jobseeker Support on 15 July 2013 and were receiving Domestic Purposes Benefit - Woman Alone or Widow's Benefit directly before this)
- NZ Super or Veteran's Pension at the non-qualified rate.
Our review of annual income takes place 52 weeks from the date your payments begin and every 52 weeks after that.
Review of income for the year we missed because of COVID-19
Last year we didn’t ask about any income received. You can request last year's review now by calling us on 0800 559 009, or 0800 552 002 if you’re 65 years and over.
Once we’ve completed your review, we’ll let you know if we owe you money, or you’ve received too much from us.
If you don’t want another review or you’re a new client, you don’t need to do anything.
