Public transport discount for Community Services Card holders
31 May 2023.
Community Services Card holders can apply now to get a 50% discount on single-trip adult fares on public transport. The discount is part of the Community Connect programme and starts on 1 July 2023.
How to apply for the discount
If you have a Community Services Card, you can apply now for the discount through your local public transport provider. You can find more information on how to apply on their website. Find the link on our page Public transport fares.
You can use this discount from 1 July 2023.
Community Services Card
A Community Services Card can help you with health care and public transport costs. You’ll automatically get a card if you’re getting a main benefit from us (e.g. Jobseeker Support) or Accommodation Supplement.
You don’t need to be on a benefit to qualify for the card. Find out who can get a card and how to apply or renew a card on our website:
If you’re not sure if you have a card, or if it’s still valid, you can check this in the 'My Profile' section in MyMSD. You’ll be able to see your card number and expiry date. You can also call the Community Services Card line on 0800 999 999 to check your card.
Other Community Connect discounts
Other discounts will be made available as part of Community Connect, but may not be available straight away in your region. These include:
- free fares for children aged 12 and under, and
- a 50% discount for anyone aged 13 to 24.
You can check with your local transport provider for more information about when these will be available and how to apply.
Correction: 8 September 2023
Previously we stated Total Mobility users could get a 50% discount on public transport fares. This is incorrect, and this news story has now been corrected.
